Emla Cream is a numbing cream used to relieve the discomfort of needle procedures such as injections, immunizations, and blood tests. The cream contains two active ingredients, lidocaine and prilocaine, which work together to produce a numbing effect.
Emla Cream should be applied 60 minutes before the procedure because it takes about an hour to numb the skin in most cases. The length of time the numbing cream takes effect depends on the procedure and your age. Read the patient information leaflet carefully and follow the instructions that apply to you.
After applying the cream to the skin, it must be covered with one of the special airtight, transparent dressings included in the package. This occlusive dressing allows the active ingredients to soak into the skin rather than being wiped away.
This 5g tube is ideal for numbing a small area of skin; it usually lasts for two applications.

How to use
Before applying the numbing agent, read the enclosed patient information leaflet.
60 minutes before the procedure, apply Emla cream directly to the skin.
Cover the cream with an airtight, non-absorbent, and transparent occlusive dressing to prevent the active ingredients from rubbing off.
