Hana is a daily contraceptive used by women of childbearing age to prevent pregnancy. It’s an oral hormonal contraceptive, also known as “the pill.”
Hana prevents ovulation by preventing the ripening of a woman’s egg cell; it also affects cervical mucus, making it more difficult for sperm to enter the womb.
Hana contains a trace amount of a female sex hormone called desogestrel, which is a progestogen. Hana does not contain any oestrogen hormone in addition to the progestogen, unlike the combined pill. Hana is known as a progestogen-only pill because of this (POP).
