Oral suspension of Nystatin is an antifungal medication used to treat oral thrush, a condition caused by an exponential growth of the Candida fungus in the mouth.

Symptoms of oral candidiasis include:

A bad flavour in the mouth
Fractures at the mouth’s corners
Having trouble eating or drinking
Mild bleeding when the lumps are scraped off. Mouth pain or burning sensation.
White bumps on the tongue, gums, or tonsils.
Consult a physician if you notice any of the above symptoms for the first time. In addition to prescribing an appropriate treatment for you, such as Nystatin, a doctor can assess the cause of your condition and recommend measures to reduce your future risk of oral thrush.

Nystatin is sold by Vygoris under the brand name Nystan, as well as a less expensive generic. Both generic and brand-name Nystatin are available for purchase from My London Pharmacy.

With the online pharmacy provided by My London Pharmacy, you can obtain a prescription for Nystatin oral suspension without visiting your doctor. Simply complete our online consultation form for a physician to review. If your order is approved before 3:00 pm on weekdays, our UK pharmacy can ship your item the same day for delivery the following day.

What causes oral candidiasis?
There are numerous risk factors that can increase susceptibility to oral thrush, including:

Taking antibiotics
The use of corticosteroids (such as preventer inhalers)
Utilizing dentures
A medical condition or treatment that causes dry mouth.
Oral thrush can be diagnosed by your doctor or dentist based on the visible symptoms, also known as the clinical image.

In some instances, spore samples may be collected and examined under a microscope. Your doctor may recommend a blood test to determine if you have an underlying medical condition that increases your risk for oral thrush.

Consult your physician if you continue to experience thrush. If you are at a higher risk for developing thrush, you can discuss ways to prevent it.

Our doctors can write a prescription for Nystatin, which our UK-registered pharmacy can fill, after a brief and straightforward medical questionnaire.

When you purchase Nystatin oral solution through our online private prescription service, our pharmacy team ships your order in discrete, unmarked packaging to protect your privacy. We provide next-day delivery to ensure that you receive your oral thrush treatment promptly.

How Does Oral Suspension of Nystatin Work?

Nystatin functions by weakening the cell walls of the fungus, allowing the cell’s contents to spill out, thereby killing the cell and eliminating the infection.

It does so by attaching to ergosterol, a compound required by cells to maintain their cell membrane. This results in the weakening and loss of structural integrity of the cell wall.

In order to completely eradicate your infection, you must continue to take Nystatin for the full duration prescribed by your doctor, even if your symptoms begin to improve within a day or two.

Similar to antibiotics, prematurely discontinuing Nystatin therapy can result in reinfection. Therefore, you must finish the course of antifungal medication prescribed by your physician.

How is Nystatin Oral Suspension taken?

You should take Nystatin oral suspension according to your doctor’s instructions.

The recommended dose for adults is 1 ml of suspension administered orally four times daily. You should take Nystatin before bedtime and after each meal.

To administer Nystatin orally:

Remove dentures prior to administering Nystatin.

Brush your teeth or your dentures. Before using Nystatin, your mouth should be clean.
Using the provided measuring pipette, squeeze the bulb at the top to measure 1 ml of Nystatin solution.
Squirt the medication into your mouth and swish it for approximately three minutes.
Consume the medication. Do not spit out Nystatin.
Wait 20 minutes after using Nystatin before eating or drinking.

Continue using the oral suspension of Nystatin for two days after your symptoms have subsided.

What should I do if I take an excessive amount of Nystatin?

Very little of the medicine is absorbed by the body, so taking a larger dose of the medication is unlikely to be harmful.

However, increasing your dosage of Nystatin can increase your risk of experiencing adverse effects such as nausea and stomach pain.

If you are concerned about using more of the suspension than intended, please contact your doctor or a pharmacist immediately.

What should I do if I forget to take my dose of Nystatin oral suspension?

If you forget to take your Nystatin oral suspension, take it as soon as you remember and continue using your medication as prescribed.

Do not take additional medication to make up for a missed dose, as this can increase your risk of side effects.
