What is the mechanism of action of Trimovate cream?
Clobetasone butyrate is classified as a’moderately potent’ steroid and is used to treat skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. Nystatin is an antifungal medication and oxytetracycline is an antibacterial medication. This cream contains three medicines that treat skin that requires a steroid and is infected, or is likely to become infected, with a bacterial or fungal infection.
It should not be used on areas of skin that are infected but do not have dermatitis, or where a viral infection is present (such as herpes simplex, or chickenpox).
Trimovate cream application
Before using this cream, please carefully read the enclosed leaflet.
Once or twice a day, apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area(s) of skin. If applied to the face, take special precautions to keep it away from the eyes and avoid using it for extended periods of time.
Because Trimovate cream contains a moderately potent steroid, you should begin using it less frequently as your symptoms improve. It should not be used on a daily basis for more than seven days. If your symptoms do not improve after a week, consult your doctor. Continued use may aggravate the infection, necessitating an antibiotic course.
Is Trimovate cream appropriate for me?
Depending on your circumstances, trimovate cream may not be suitable for you. Trimovate is not recommended if you have previously reacted to steroid creams or if you are allergic to any of the active or inactive ingredients.
Please let us know if you are taking any other medications, including creams or eczema treatments, whether prescribed by your doctor or purchased without a prescription from a pharmacy.
If you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, are breastfeeding, or plan to breastfeed, you should not use Trimovate cream.
If it does not work for you, please notify your doctor because another treatment may be better suited to your needs.
Provide as many details about your health as possible during the consultation so that the doctor has all of the information needed to determine whether Trimovate cream is right for you.
What are the Trimovate cream side effects?
Although not everyone experiences side effects from trimovate cream, they are possible.
Skin irritation or allergy have been reported as side effects, which can appear as a worsening of the symptoms being treated. If this occurs, discontinue use of Trimovate cream and consult your doctor. Hair growth and skin discoloration have been reported as side effects less frequently.
Before beginning any course of treatment, read the patient information leaflet provided. The leaflet is also available online here.
